Adela A. Salcido, 84, of Pecos passed away Friday, April 24, 2020, at her residence.
She was born June 6, 1935 in Pecos to Ralph and Narcissa Ybarra Arreguy.
She lovingly and whole heartedly served God as a Christian Catholic. Adela married Juan R. Salcido, June 26, 1955; they were married for 61 years until Dad’s passing on October 29, 2016.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Juan R. Salcido; great grandchildren, Luis Sebastian Aguirre, Kiara Alize Archuleta, and Levi Mason Terrazas; and sisters, Josie Valencia and Rosie Marta.
Mother enjoyed the company of her family and friends. As a young mother she always volunteered for our school parties and school functions. She was a friend to all and never forgot a name or a face. We all we remember how at home she would often spontaneously burst into song when she was reminded of either the lyrics or title of a song. Mother’s favorite interests were her faith, family and movies. Mama was involved in several charitable groups at church, she served as a catechist, she was a “Pink Lady” at our local hospital, she fostered children, she loved visiting family and friends at the nursing home, and she enjoyed delivering meals on wheels. Our mother, Adela, was a retiree baker from the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD; employed 35 years.
Mom is survived by daughters Becky Millan and husband, Julian; Lillian Archuleta and husband, Oscar Sr.; and Barbara Castillo and husband, David all of Pecos; and Terry Villagran and husband, Jaime of Odessa; sons, John R. Salcido and wife, Rosie of Pecos; Dan Salcido and Diane Rodriguez of San Antonio; and Martin Arreguy and wife, Marina of Pecos. Also, brothers Eugenio Arreguy and wife, Rosie of Rockland, Ca.; Ralph Arreguy and wife, Betsy of Elkgrove, Ca.; Bobby Arreguy and wife, Elva of Odessa; and Ricky Arreguy of Pecos.
Mom also leaves to cherish her memory 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren along with many very much-loved nieces, nephews and friends.
