Alfonso Villela Sr.

Alfonso Luna Villela Sr., 82, of Pecos, Texas passed away on December 28, 2021, at his home in Pecos, Texas.

Alfonso was born in Alpine, Texas to Catalina Luna Villela on December 31, 1938. He attended Pecos High School and was class of 1960. He married Guadalupe Chabarria on May 31, 1964, in Pecos, Texas.

At age 13, Alfonso began his music career playing the trumpet with various Mariachi groups. In 1980, he founded and directed the Santa Rosa Men’s Choir and continued his music ministry playing the guitar until his death.

Alfonso Luna Villela Sr. is preceded in death by his birth mother Catalina Luna Villela, his adoptive mother Nellie Wright, sister Carmen Villela, sister Esther Manzo, brother Gilberto Villela, brother Willie Wright, and grandson Andrew Aaron Matta.

Alfonso Luna Villela Sr. is survived by his wife Guadalupe Villela, son Alfonso C. Villela Jr. and wife Lorraine, daughter Selina Beatriz Mahoney and husband Mark, daughter Sonya Villela, grandson Noe Villela, granddaughter Anna C. Villela, granddaughter Marissa A. Matta, grandson Gabriel A. Matta and wife Cera, and granddaughter Kayla E. Matta, brother Felipe Garcia, and brother Frank Villela, and several nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at 9am-9pm on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Pecos Funeral Home, Rosary will be held at 7:30 pm on Monday, January 3, 2022, at Pecos Funeral Home mask are required.

The funeral will be held at 10am on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Santa Rosa de Lima Church. Mask are required.

Reception to follow at the Santa Rosa Hall after graveside services at Petrolio Cemetery.
