Calvin Birkla

Calvin George Birkla, 89, of Pecos, TX, passed away on January 2, 2019 in Odessa, TX.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, January 5 at Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos, TX. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.

George was born in Perry, Indiana to Calvin Miller Birkla and Regina Lillian (Reppendan) Birkla on August 20, 1929. He married Ola Pat Kerns on October 3, 1952. He worked in the oilfield for most of his life. He retired from the oilfield when he was 75. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

George is preceded in death by his parents Calvin Birkla and Lillian Birkla, his wife, Pat Birkla, two sons, Mark Birkla and Mike Birkla, one daughter Georgia Birkla, two brothers, Paul Birkla and Stanley Birkla, and three sisters, Annabelle Birkla West, Patricia Birkla Knox, and Regina Birkla Helmers.

George is survived by one son, Matt Birkla and wife Marian of Albany, TX, two sisters, Barbara Birkla Blevins of Hobbs, NM, and Juanita Birkla Hill of Conroe, TX, one brother, Clyde Birkla of Silver City, NM, four grandsons, Shane Birkla and wife Trish of San Antonio, TX, Stanley Birkla and wife Robyn of Midland, TX, Matt Birkla and wife Sara of Albany, TX and Mark Birkla of Albany, TX, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
