Catarino J Hernandez 70 years old, of Reeves County Texas left us to be with Our Heavenly Father and entered eternal peace on January 20, 2025. Catarino was born on September 26, 1954, to Merjeldo Hernandez, and Esquiel Jaquez Hernandez in Pecos, Texas. After Catarino graduated Pecos High School in 1976, he went on to work for Pennzoil construction, Piggly Wiggly Grocery store, Hills Grocery Store, Thais Grocery store, Safeway Groceries, Furr’s, Bob Thriftway, and La Tienda. Catarino was a proud community member of citizen police, Lions club, and Knights of Columbus. Catarino also played various time for Night at Old Pecos, was a respected community member as well as severed the community through several local clubs, valued hard work, and serving the community local business in a time where there was only grocery stores. One of the values he taught and lived by honesty, respect and honor. Catarino gave a special gift to his family with love & blessings to help his Oldest Daughter Dolores, in having one of his kidneys. A gift of life, love, and family. Amen!!  Historical Fact Catarino’s mother Esquiel and Grandmother Librada Montoya were victims of the Porvenir Massacre of January 28, 1918. Catarino’s Mother Esquiel Jaquez’s father Tiburcio Jaquez was one of the men murdered in the Porvenir Massacre. Catarino met his wife Maria Jaramillo Hernandez. In 2021 Catarino retired from La tienda Grocery store and spent his time as a DJ, listing to his favorite music, and planting vegetables in his garden, and with his family.

Catarino J. Hernandez is preceded in death by his parents; Merejildo and Esquiel Jaquez Hernandez, Sylvestre, Meregildo (Neno), Refino (Fino), Paula (Viky), Jesus (Chewy), Natividad (Naite).

Catarino J. Hernandez is survived by his spouse Maria Jaramillo Hernandez of Pecos, Texas, children Dolores Hernandez of Colorado Springs Co., Irene Hernandez of Pecos, Texas, Edward Hernandez of Pecos, Texas, Ike and Cassandra Hernandez of Lubbock, Texas, and Angelique and Ricardo Hernandez Garcia of Pecos, Texas, Nine Grandchildren; Samantha and Philip Velasquez, Domink, Jillanne, Adreanna Wells, Mariah, Haylie, and Ike Hernandez, and Leslie, and Archer Garcia., Siblings Helen, Socorro, and Arturo Hernandez.

Pallbearers will be Ike Hernandez, Edward Hernandez, Valentin Almaraz, Domink Wells, Ikey Hernandez, and John Rodrigues.

Visitation will be held at Pecos Funeral Home on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 12 pm. to 9 pm. with Rosary at 7 pm.

Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at  2pm. at the Toyah Cemetery in Toyah, Texas.
