Celia Matta Castillo was born in Marfa, Texas to Evaristo and Teresa Matta on April 4, 1933.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday Dec.13, 2016 from 9:00 am to 9:00 PM at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.
Rosary will be held on Tuesday Dec, 13, 2016 at 7:30 PM at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass will be held on Wednesday Dec. 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church with Deacon Ruben Reyes Officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.
She married the love of her life Miguel Perez Castillo on February 25, 1952 in Pecos, Texas. Celia was a successful entrepreneur and along with her husband, she established the La Norteña Restaurant and Tortilla Factory, which is now operated by her youngest son, David. She was a long-standing active member of the Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Music and singing was her passion and she enjoyed playing the guitar in the parish choir
Celia is preceded in death by her beloved husband Miguel and parents Evaristo and Teresa Matta.
Celia is survived by her six children, Elvira and husband Jesus "Chuy" Muñiz of McAllen, TX; Grace and husband Lupe "Pepo" Rodriguez of San Angelo, TX; Sally Castillo of Midland, TX, Miguel Castillo Jr and wife Maribel of Midland, TX; Cindy Castillo Orona of Pecos, TX; David and wife Barbara Castillo of Pecos, TX, 18 Grandchildren and 25 Great-grandchildren.
Five brothers: George Matta, Evaristo Matta, Domingo Matta, Fred Matta & Joe Luis Vasquez. Three sisters: Teresa Natividad, Delia Alvarez and Delma Navarrete.
Pallbearers will be: Jesus "Peewee" Muñiz, Zeke Dutchover, Anthony Dutchover, Andrew Dutchover, Eric Rodriguez, John Orona, Simon Castillo, and Miko Castillo.
Memorials may be given to Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA).
The family of Celia Castillo wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the entire staff of Sagecrest Alzheimer's Unit in San Angelo, TX. Also, St. Mary's Catholic Church in San Angelo TX, the St. Mary Knights of Columbus Council 3514 and St. Anthony's Small Community of San Angelo. Thank you to all our family and friends that have shown love and support during this time.
