David Ramos Dutchover Jr., 87 years old, of Pecos, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in his home with family in Pecos, Texas.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 PM and Friday, December 9th at 9:00 am to 9:00 PM at the Pecos Funeral Home.
The rosary services will be held on Friday, December 8th at 7:30 pm at the Pecos Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at Santa Rosa Catholic Church at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 9th with burial following at the Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos.
David was born in Marfa, Texas to David and Lucia Dutchover on August 17, 1930. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Maria Dutchover beginning their marriage on June 1, 1958 until her passing on March 10, 2007.
David received both his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and his Master's degree in Educational Administration from Sul Ross State University.
His career was dedicated to the educational system for over 48 years. Progressing from being a math teacher, David was the first Hispanic to become the Assistant Superintendent for the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District. In addition, he led the Reeves County Teachers Credit Union as President and Treasurer for over 33 years. He also served as a proud Veteran for the United States Army.
David had a "heart of gold" as he volunteered in his community for a number of years throughout his lifetime. Some of the volunteer activities included serving as President for the Pecos Foodbank, serving multiple meals to the less fortunate for numerous years. He also led the Pecos High School Band Booster Club, and volunteered for both St. Catherine's Catholic Church and Santa Rosa Catholic Church for a number of years.
David is preceded in death by his 3 siblings, Zobeida Arriola, Mary Lou Valenzuela, and Fred Dutchover.
David is survived by all of his 6 children including David Dutchover III, Sandra (Jeff) Jacoby, Jimmy (Veronica) Dutchover, Wanda (Paul) Granier, Lorraine (Michael) Gonzalez, and Ben (Anna) Dutchover.
In addition, David has his surviving grandchildren including David Dutchover IV, Dena (Mike Rivera) Dutchover, Samantha (Jarred) Rowden, Angelica (Phillip) Rivera, Charles Dutchover, Richard Dutchover, Gizelle Gonzalez, Danielle Granier, Adrian Gonzalez, Jonathan Granier, Marian Appel, Lucia Dutchover, Julia Dutchover, and Bernadette Dutchover.
His great-grandchildren survivors include Micyah Dutchover, Brennan Rivera, Stella Rivera, and Grayson Rivera.
Pallbearers include Ben Dutchover, Francisco Javier Ramirez Jr., Juan Angel Ramirez, Richard Dutchover, Jonathan Granier, Jarred Rowden, Mike Rivera and Phillip Rivera.
