David D. Vejil, 82, of Pecos, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 in Midland, Texas.
David was born in Balmorhea, Texas to Mr. & Mrs. D. V. Vejil on August 9, 1941. He went to school in Pecos. He was married to Gilda Diaz Vejil on September 5, 1965 in Pecos,Texas. He graduated from Pecos High and attended Odessa College. He worked as a Postal Worker at the United States Post Service for over 25 years. After retiring in 1990 from the postal service he worked at Pecos High School, Reeves County Golf Course, and did contract work for the U.S. Postal Service delivering mail to Balmorhea, Ft. Davis, and Marfa. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Army with the 709th Military Police Battalion in Germany. David was a member of the Evening Optimist Club and served as a eucharist minister.
While we mourn the loss of David's earthly presence, we find solace in knowing that he is now reunited with the love of his life Gilda D. Vejil, sister Nina Abila, nephew Ruben Abila, and his parents Maria and Demecio Vejil Jr.
David leaves behind a legacy of love and family devotion that will be carried on by his children: David Vejil Jr. (Irma Rodriguez), Patricia A. Abila (Gilbert S. Abila), Demecio Vejil III; grandchildren: BreAnn D. Windham, Liza M. Vejil, Leilani K. Pornan, Jaclyn A. Quinonez, Dominique B. Vejil; Demecio Vejil IV; Bryson I. Abila; Sophia A. Vejil; Amanda A. Vejil; great-grandchildren: Kyrie Z. Escajeda; Yara K. Naomi; Kash S. Hernandez; Davian J. Vejil; Kallie K. Pornan; Koa N. Pornan; Koi M. Pornan; Carter Quinonez; Hudson Quinonez, one brother Danny Vejil (Norma) – all shining examples of David's love carrying forward.
Pallbearers will be Gilbert Herrera, Arturo Herrera, Alvaro Hinojos, Thomas Valdez, Alvaro Alvarez and Bird Baeza
Visitation will be held at Pecos Funeral Home on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Rosary at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be at Santa Rosa Catholic Church on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Pecos, Texas.
