Dorothy Lee (Haynes) Herod was born in Pecos, TX on April 17, 1933 to the union of the late Daniel Sr. and Tennie (Graves) Haynes. Dorothy grew up in Pecos, where she attended public schools. She was a member of Friendship CME Church, where she served as a Deaconess. She met and married the love of her life, the late Jimmy Herod, on June 16, 1951 in Carlsbad, NM. She was known for her famous smothered chicken, red beans & rice, and sweet potato pie. An avid sports fan, you could always find her rooting for her favorite teams - the Boston Celtics, LA Dodgers, and the Dallas Cowboys - all of which could do no wrong in her eyes.

She is survived by her children and their spouses - Joyce and Donald White of El Paso, TX,  Bobby and Sylvia Herod of Odessa, TX, Donny Herod of Austin, TX and Kathie and Levi Randolph of Pflugerville, TX; her four grandchildren - Derick White of Allen, TX, Nicole White of El Paso, TX, Benisha Coleman of Lakewood, WA, and Crystal Rountree of Charlotte, NC; her five great grandchildren - Alajah, Alex, and Alyse Coleman, Kennedy White, and Kingston Rountree, along with a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jimmy Herod, her parents Daniel Sr. and Tennie (Graves) Haynes, brothers Daniel, Alton, Harry, and James Haynes, and sisters Verna McCanick, Molden Keeton, and Bennie Bailey. She leaves behind a wealth of memories of good times with family and friends.

Visitation Thursday September 10, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M., funeral services Friday September 11, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. both at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow at Santa Rosa Cemetery.

Due to COVID19 limitations, masks are required in the funeral home, and only 40 members of the immediate family will be allowed for viewing and funeral services, if you plan to attend the graveside services, please plan to wear a mask and keep social distance of 6 feet.
