Elisa D. Ornelas passed away on March 9, 2020 at her home in Pecos, TX surrounded by family and friends at the age of 97.
She was born in Marfa, TX to Ysavell DeAnda and Francisca Rodriguez DeAnda on March 5, 1923. She married Jesus Ornelas on July 8, 1943 and moved to Pecos, TX where they were blessed with 8 children. Elisa was a woman of great faith, compassion, a best friend, a protector, prayer warrior, homemaker, she was the glue to the family. She enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking and spending time with her family whether on the phone or in person.
Elisa was preceded in death by her parents Ysabel and Francisca DeAnda, her husband Jesus Ornelas, and siblings Merced Segovia, Enriqueta Chavira, Conrado DeAnda, Roberto DeAnda, and Manuel DeAnda.
Elisa is survived by her children: Jesse and wife Lorretta of RSM, California, Helen and husband Jack Keen of Silver City, NM, Elizabeth and husband Loyd Wright of Odessa, TX, Olga Ornelas of Pecos, TX, Sally Orona of Pecos, TX, Jerry and wife Anna Ornelas of Odessa, TX, Jeffrey Ornelas of Keller, TX, and James and wife Dianna Ornelas of Odessa, TX. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Justin Ornelas, Michael Orona, Jeremy Ornelas, John Paul Ornelas, Christopher Ornelas and Spencer Carrasco. Honoree Pallbearers will be Brian Arriola, Christopher Arriola, Isiah Ornelas, Jonathan Perez, Mason Carrasco, Ethan Carrasco, Brady Abila, Hunter Dillender, Jackson Wood, and Grayson Ornelas.
Visitation is set for Wednesday March 11, 2020 from 2pm-9pm and Thursday March 12 from 9am-9pm with the Rosary recited at 7:30pm at Pecos Funeral Home.
Mass will be celebrated 10:00AM Friday March 13, 2020 at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery.
