Eugene Wade Walker, 84, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, in Pecos, Texas. Genewas a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, and, most of all, grandfather. Gene was known for always being willing to help others, for his love for his family, and for his amazing stories.
He was born on August 23, 1939, in Merkel, Texas, to Easter Mae (Campbell) Walker and William Dennis Walker.Gene grew up in Pecos, Texas, and graduated from Pecos High School in 1957. Later in life, Gene liked to refer to himself as the “King of Sports” since he was active in basketball, football, track, and baseball during high school.Gene made his living as a lineman and traveled around the country installing powerlines.
Gene was preceded in death by the passing of his parents, William Dennis and Easter Mae Walker, son Brian Walker, sister Mary Walker, fi rst wife Connie, and stepson Clayton Lemon.
Gene is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marian Walker, brothers Dicky (Linda) and Jimmy Walker, and sister Margaret Walker Mosely. Additionally, he is survived by his son Bret Walker (Heather), stepson Joey Lemon(Theresa), and stepdaughter Deanette Lemon. Grandchildren: Nicole Ermis (Luke), Travis Walker, Justin Walker,Jakob Walker, Jaycee Walker, Aaron Walker (Carli), Breanna Walker (Jacob), Maegan Lemon, Chase Balow, Lane Moffett, Mackenzie Moffett, Wayne Lemon, and Lloyd Lemon. Great-grandkids: Rayden and Rylen Ermis,Lucchese and Jameson Walker, Rosie Walker, Brylie Duran, Andrew Anderson, and Kharlei Moffett.
Funeral Services for Eugene Wade Walker will be at 10:00 a.m. at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel on February29, 2024. Graveside services will be at the El Dorado Cemetery, Hwy 181, Willcox, Arizona, on March 2, 2024, at10 a.m.
Following the graveside services, we invite you to join us for a potluck gathering at the El Dorado Community Center. If you are able to contribute, please bring a favorite dish.
