Geneva Florez Talamantez, 96 of Pecos, TX passed away on January 10, 2015 in Pecos, TX.
Rosary will be held at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel from 7:30 to 9:00 PM on Thursday, January 15, 2015. Mass will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church, Father Pete officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pecos Funeral Home.
Geneva was born in Amarillo, TX to Felix and Natividad Florez on January 1, 1919. . Geneva worked in the cotton fields for many years and also cleaned houses. Geneva met and married Thomas Renteria Talamantez on September 12, 1942 in Pecos, TX. Immediately after their wedding ceremony the pair got on a train going to Los Angeles, CA and there they started their family. Geneva and Tommy worked very hard and went on to be very successful business owners.
Geneva is preceded in death by her parents Felix and Natividad Salcido Florez. Geneva is also preceded death by her sisters, Rebecca Barroso, Francis Florez Rodriguez, Mary Florez Cox; brothers Cruz Florez, Felix Florez. Geneva was also preceded in death by her dear son Arvil Florez Talamantez and son in law John Rodriguez.
Geneva is survived by her husband, Thomas Talamantez and their children; Yolanda Rodriguez of Camarillo, CA and Thomas Talamantez Jr of Venice, CA. Mrs. Talamantez is also survived by her grandchildren; Deborah Rodriguez of Venice, CA, Anthony John Rodriguez of Port Hueneme, CA, Nicholas John Rodriguez of Camarillo, CA, Noemi Talamantez of Venice, CA, and Santino Talamantez of Venice, CA. Her great grandchildren are Thomas John Martinez of Brooklyn, NY, Tabytha Hauser of Ventura, CA. Clarissa Rodriguez of Oxnard, CA, Lucien Rodriguez of Camarillo, CA and Karalisa Ada Rodriguez of Camarillo, CA. Geneva is also survived by her brothers and Sisters Raymond Florez, Paradise, CA, Rey Florez of Odessa, TX, Inez Florez Tercero of Hawthorne, CA, and Lydia Florez Ruiz, Hawthorne, CA.
Geneva was a great soul and acquired many very close friends during her long, adventurous, wonderful, life. The Gamboa family in particular have been such a big part of Genevas life, she loved them so very much.
