Grady Thomas Smith

Grady Thomas Smith, 78 passed away on September 24, 2023 at his home in Pecos, TX. Grady Smith was born in Pyote, TX to George Thomas Smith and Sally Durdin Smith on May 17, 1945.  He married Nadine Carrell on November 12, 1977 in Pecos.  He attended school in Pecos. He worked for Pennzoil Sulphur Mine until the closing and retired from Pecos Transit Mix.  Grady was an amateur radio operator (WA5ZBX) and helped with communications during the Saragosa tornado and Wichita Falls tornado.  He was a member of the Big Bend Amateur Radio group and a member of West Park Baptist Church.

Grady is preceded in death by his parents and son Michael Smith.

Grady is survived by his wife Nadine, daughters Dana Magers (Tony Hinojoz) and Rebecca Smith and grandchildren Nikolas Chavez, Ethan Chavez, Zadye Hinojoz, Marley Hinojoz, Tripp Hinojoz and Avah Fuentez all of Pecos.  He is also survived by his sister Donna Sampson of Granbury, TX and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Rey Carreon officiating.  Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.
