Hector Matta

On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, Hector M. Matta, 65, was called to be with our heavenly Father. He was born August 27, 1952, and was a life-long resident of Pecos.
He was a devoted, loving husband and father who loved spending time with family and friends. He retired from the Reeves County Detention Center and was a member of Santa Rosa Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Matta Sr.; mother, Epigmenia M. Matta; brothers, Manuel Garcia, Manuel Mata, Pablo M Matta, Juan Matta Jr., and Paz Matta; sisters, Cruz Pisana, Paula Ornelas, Sister Martha Ann, Mary Dutchover, Maria Regino, and Yolanda Ramirez.
He is survived by his wife, Vickey Benavidez Matta of Pecos, and children Hector Matta Jr. and wife Naomi of Pecos, Ermalinda Gamboa and husband Pete of Odessa, Miguel Matta and wife Nikki of Pecos, Chris Matta of Pecos, and Orlando Matta and wife Miranda of San Antonio; sisters Eloisa Casias of Odessa, TX, Virginia Ramirez of Zapata, TX, brother Raul Matta of Odessa, TX, 7 granddaughters, 6 grandsons and 2 great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be held Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 7:30 pm at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 13, 2017, at 2 pm at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church with interment at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.
