Hortencia Martinez, 79, of Pecos, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, in Odessa, Texas.
Born on April 11, 1945, in San Carlos, Coahuila, Mexico, to Didio and Dolores Martinez, Hortencia devoted her life to her family and community. She married Andres Martinez, Jr. on February 14, 1968, in Pecos, where they built a loving home and raised their family. Throughout her life, she was an active member of the parish community at Santa Rosa, and she will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother.
Hortencia is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Didio and Dolores Martinez; her daughter, Isabel Martinez; her brother, Didio Rivera Martinez; and her sister, Juana Martinez.
She is survived by her loving husband, Andres Martinez, Jr.; her daughter, Irene Martinez; her son, Father Andrew Martinez III; grandchildren AlexAndrea (Cody) Zamarripa, Jacob Carrasco, and Rio Martínez; great-grandchildren Angelica, Cody Luka, Caleb Zamarripa, and Emma Carrasco; brothers Claudio (Margarita) Martínez, Leonardo (Reynalda) Martínez, Juan (Bertha) Martínez, Oscar (Magdalena) Martínez, and Jesús (Sylvia) Martínez; sisters Maria Sanchez and Dolores (Isaac) Subia; sister Elida Martinez; sister-in-law Aurelia Martinez; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Hortencia’s life touched many, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the Pecos Police Department, Reeves County Sheriff’s Department, Reeves County Emergency Services District, Reeves Regional Hospital, and Odessa Medical Center Hospital for their swift response, care, and assistance during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm Pecos Funeral Home; Visitation will continue at 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm.
Funeral Mass will be Celebrated with Father Andrew Martinez III on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 11:00am at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at GreenWood Cemetery in Pecos, Texas
Hortencia will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
