Hortencia Renteria

Hortencia Ramirez Renteria, 87, of Pecos, Texas, passed away on March 13, 2021 in Odessa, Texas.

Hortencia was born in Presidio, Texas to Eduardo & Isabel Ramirez on December 19, 1933. She married Seledonio C. Renteria in 1954 in Loving, New Mexico. She worked at the family farm, side-by-side with her husband, the late Seledonio C. Renteria. Hortencia was a great mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with family and was the ‘light’ of all family gatherings. She loved sewing, quilting, and had many other talents. The family and friends knew her as the ‘BEST’ bean-maker.

Hortencia is preceded in death by her parents Eduardo & Isabel Ramirez, her husband, Seledonio C. Renteria, and daughter Juanita R. Gonzales.

Hortencia is survived by her children Arnulfo Molinar and Alfredo Renteria of Midland, Texas; Reyes Dominguez of Kermit, Texas; Delma Gonzales and Jose Renteria of Odessa, Texas; Ysidro Renteria of Mentone, Texas; Senaida R. Polanco of Fort Worth, Texas, and Sylvia Renteria of Pecos, Texas. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild who knew her as ‘Wela’.

Pallbearers will be Iram Molinar, Xavier Gonzales, Adrian Dominguez, Michael Renteria, Robert Villalobos, John Jr. Polanco, and Ysidro Jr. Renteria

Visitation will be at (9:00 am to 8:00 pm), Thursday, March 18th and Rosary will be at (6:30 pm), Thursday, March 18th both at Pecos Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm (please arrive at church by 1:00 pm), Friday, March 19th at Santa Rosa De Lima with the ( Father Cruz), officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.
