Isaac "Saki" Martinez

Isaac (Saki) Martinez, 63, of Pecos, Texas passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 with family by his side. Saki was born on July 3, 1957 to Tomas and Virginia Martinez in Pecos, Texas.

He grew up in the Saragosa/Balmorhea area.  As a young man, he developed a love for working on the family farm where he gained skills and experiences that went on to help him in his career that would expand 37 years as a Civil Engineer Technician with the USDA NRCS. He recently retired to focus on his battle against cancer. Saki was loved by everybody who came into contact with him, especially his children and grandchildren. He, in a sense had farming in his blood, and serving those around him is how he thrived. A former field supervisor was quoted saying Isaac was a person who wanted to work and wanted other people's land to work, he showed this through his professionalism and by helping farmers in Pecos, Ft. Stockton, and throughout Reeves County. His efforts helped farmers now and well into the future. Saki will be remembered by his easy going personality, his service to others, and his ability to see the good in most everyone. Regardless of the situation facing Saki, he always found a way to see things through and remain positive.

Isaac married Donna Brijalba on August 5, 1978, they were married 41 years and together had 3 children and 9 grandchildren which Saki adored.

Saki was preceded in death by his father, Tomas C. Martinez, his mother Virginia C. Martinez, his daughter Johanna Martinez, and his brother Tomas C. (Tommy) Martinez Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Martinez, his son Chris Martinez (Elvira); his daughter Michelle Martinez; 9 grandchildren, Haylee Martinez, Kendra Martinez, Kory Martinez, Avery Martinez, Eduardo Martinez, Logan Martinez, Jayvon Thompson, Paisley Martinez and Case Martinez; a brother Rodolfo "Rudy" Martinez (Irma); 2 sisters, Florinda Gallego (Freddy); Elodia Garcia (Armando "Shaggy"); numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021 fro 9 am to 8 pm. at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with a Prayers Service at 7 pm. Funeral service will also be held at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 10 am. Interment will be in Saragosa, Texas at the Saragosa Cemetery.
