Jesusita “Quito” Galindo Alvarez, 91, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, March 15, 2021 in her home in (Brogado) Balmorhea, Texas. She died of natural causes.
Quito was born in Balmorhea, Texas on January 11, 1930 to Fermana and Domingo Galindo and lived her entire life there. She was the youngest of four children. She married Eduardo “Lalito” Alvarez on May 23, 1949. She was a homemaker all of her life and she loved to cook for her family and friends. She made corn and flour tortillas from scratch and her beef tacos, red enchiladas and asado were her specialties. She also loved to bake for special occasions. She was a gentle, kind lady who was a woman of few words, but was a great listener.
Quito is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter who died at birth, and one son, Eduardo “Eddy” Alvarez, Jr.
Quito is survived by her husband of 71 years, Eduardo “Lalito” Alvarez; children, Alvaro Alvarez of Pecos, Texas and Anna Rossell (Randy) of Wink, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Alvarez (Anthony Figueroa), Edward Alvarez, Jr. (Elicia), Adrian Alvarez, all of Balmorhea, Texas, Alva Alvarez (Bill Weinacht) of Pecos, Texas, Jenny Epie (Makia) of Mico, Texas, Scott Rossell (Marissa) of Odessa, Texas. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Balmorhea cemetery. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.
