Laura Tellez, of Pecos, TX went to be with the Lord on January 25th in Midland, TX.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday Jan.30, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 pm and on Thursday Jan 31, 2019 from 10:00 am to 9:00 AM at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.
Rosary will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, January 31st at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 1st, 2019 at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.
Laura Tellez was born in El Paso, Texas to Manuel and Francisca C. Vargas on May 26, 1923. Laura was married to Genaro Luis Tellez. Laura and Genaro were the owners of the Popular Thriftway grocery store. Laura was a loving mother and a most awesome cook.
Laura Tellez is the epitome of the saying, "Behind every successful man is a strong woman." Laura showed her love to her family through her cooking- delicious tacos on Tuesdays, caldo on Thursdays, Fridays were famous for enchiladas, and she made the most awesome sopapillas when it snowed. There will never be anyone who can make rice as delicious as Grandma's rice!
Laura is preceded in death by her husband, Genaro Luis Tellez, her grandson, Max Miranda, and her granddaughter, Bernadette Tellez; her parents, Manuel and Francisca C. Vargas of El Paso, TX, three sisters- Emma Mercado of El Paso, TX, Alicia Rivera of Norwalk, CA, and Estella Provencio of Los Angeles, CA, and one brother, Manuel Vargas of El Paso, TX. Laura is survived by daughter Frances Porras, grandchildren Ted Porras and Carol Porras; daughter Sally Delgado (Richard Delgado), granddaughter Kristine Koenig; daughter Sylvia Miranda (Max Miranda, Sr.), granddaughters Laura Roman and Vanessa Miranda; son Gerald Tellez (Maria Olga), grandchildren Marisol Tellez and Dominique Tellez; daughter Linda Boone (Bill Boone), grandchildren George Brian Gonzales and Juan Luis Borrego; daughter Debra Goff (William Goff), grandchildren Alyssa Nicole Garcia, William Dallas Goff, and DesaRay Goff; and daughter Sandra Tellez, grandchildren Jonathan Bowling and Andrea Bowling. Laura is also survived by 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ted Porras, George Brian Gonzales, Dominique Tellez, Juan Luis Borrego, Jonathan Bowling, Andrew Gonzales, Zachary Gonzales, and Donovan Iglesias.
