Leonarda E. Sotelo, 90 of Pecos passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, December 26, 2024 in Pecos Texas.
Visitation for Leonarda will be from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Pecos Funeral Home. Prayer services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 1, 2025 Starting with the the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy at 6:00 pm and the Rosary starting at 7:00 pm. Mass will be Celebrated for Leonarda on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Pecos Texas, with Father De La Cruz officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery.
Leonarda was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and mother in law.
She was a devoted housewife raising her family of 7. One thing we all learned from her is to be humble, as she always put others first. She inspired all her family to work hard and be honest. She had a caring nature that was contagious. Her faith in God carried her through many challenges in her life, until her death.
Leonarda is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Francisco Sotelo Sr, two daughters, Lucia and Florina Sotelo, her parents Benito Escontrias and Santana Lopez, and her siblings sister, Maria Elena Barraza and brothers, Rosendo, Jose, Faustino and Petronilo Escontrias.
Leonarda is survived by her daughters, Lorenza and husband, Rene Salgado, Martha Pando, Araceli and husband, Sergio Hernandez, Alma Sotelo and husband, Miguel, sons, Jose Sotelo and wife, Mary Jane, Francisco E. Sotelo Jr, Eriberto Sotelo and wife, Annette, She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Teodoro, Cipriano, and Jesus Manuel Escontrias and sisters,Leonila Escontrias, Anita Alvarado, Nestora Baez, Emilia Holguin and Irene Caballero.
Pallbearers for Leonarda will be; Bobby Sotelo, Greg Gabaldon, Rene Salgado Jr, Bryan Hernandez, Eddie Sotelo Sr., Francisco Sotelo Jr., Zachary Sanchez and Eddie Sotelo Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Giovanni Sotelo, Gael Sotelo and Leroy Salgado.
We will also like to extend our appreciation to the staff at the Reeves Regional Home Health and Hospice in Pecos, Texas for caring for our beloved mother Madrecita, we will miss you greatly!
