Family will receive friends on Tuesday August 7, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pecos Funeral Home
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday August 8, 2018 at the Pecos Funeral Home chapel, with Lonnie Owens and Juan Palacios Officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery.
Lynn left to be with his Lord Thursday August 2, 2018 surrounded by his family in his home after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born October 14, 1936 in Portales, New Mexico to Burris Frank Owens and Nellie Florence Owens. He married the love of his life Virginia on July 25,1959 and moved to Pecos early in their life together. Lynn worked as manager of Brown Pipe and Supply for 30 years before serving as the Reeves County Auditor for the remaining 28 years of his life. Balancing his incredible work ethic, he is remembered as a loving husband, father and community defender. Lynn enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking and ceramics but also served as a Pony League baseball coach and High School basketball referee for years. His family is also very proud of his service as an EMT and volunteer firefighter. The Texas Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Alpine, Texas also became a passion inspired by his brother Raydean. The surviving family would appreciate any memorial donations be sent to any of these organizations.
Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Raydean, Ronald, Waynen, one sister Arlene and beloved wife Virginia Lee Owens.
Survivors include his brother John Owens and wife Lynn of San Angelo, Texas, sister Judy Carol Phillips of Gibsonton, Florida, sister-in-law Verna Owens of Artesia, New Mexico Son Michael McDow and wife Pat of Bosque Farms, New Mexico, Daughters Diana Ferris and husband John of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and Suzan Lynnette Miles and husband Stephen of Magnolia, Texas, 3 grandsons Michael McDow, Stephen Jones and wife Parish, and Dustin Miles, one granddaughter Brittany Miles, and one great grandson Nolan Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom meant a great deal to him.
Services are under the direction of Pecos Funeral Home.
