Mario Payen

Mario B Payen 52, of Pecos passed away Tuesday February 18, 2020 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born to Guadalupe F Payen and Maria De Jesus Baeza Payen in Pecos. He was a business owner of a flower shop and a Christian Catholic.  He married Joe Portillo April 16, 2017 in Odessa.

Mario loved music, dancing, singing, camping, loved his four legged friends Precious, Channel, Choco and Bobo, but his passion was being a designer. That’s why he opened up his own flower shop putting his talents to use, designing and putting together beautiful flower arrangements implementing at times his favorite color of reds. He was also a very funny, talkative and friendly person. Mario will be dearly missed. The family expresses a sincere thank you to the Reeves County and Medical Center Hospital CCU department for the love and care they provided to Mario.

He is preceded in death by his mother Maria De Jesus Payen and brother Guadalupe B. Payen Jr.

Mario is survived by his spouse Joe Portillo of Odessa, daughters Esmeralda Espudo and Andrea Dominguez of Pecos, father Guadalupe Payen of Pecos, brother Joe Payen and wife Rosalinda of Pecos, sisters Dulces Payen and husband Salvador Villalobos of Pecos, Maria Valeriano and husband Ernesto of Ojinaga, and Araceli Payen of Pecos.

Also cherishing his memory are 19 nieces and nephews and 34 great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation is set for Sunday February 23, 2020 from 2pm-9pm and Monday February 24, 2020 from 9am-9pm with a Rosary at 7:30pm at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is set for 10am Tuesday February 25, 2020 at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father De La Cruz officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
