Marjorie Horton

A strong and courageous woman in the Lord and in our hearts has gone from labor to rewards. Marjorie was a God-fearing woman, who loved God with all of her heart, mind, and soul. She was full of love, wisdom, and laughter. Marjorie truly loved God, family, and friends. God knew the time was too short for us, but long enough for her.

Marjorie L (Ephriam) Horton was born on October 28, 1921 to Dan and Mattie Ephriam in Wharton, Texas. She married Anthony (Andy) Horton in June of 1941 and had six beautiful children. Marjorie accepted Christ into her life and was a member of St. James Baptist Church. She worked as a housekeeper for many years and was a part-time custodian for Pecos Barstow Toyah at Bessie Haynes Elementary for over 20 years.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Mattie Ephriam; husband, Andy Horton; brothers: Bob, Ira, Jack, and Irving; sister, Anna Lee Jackson; Frank (Nun) Williams (who was like a brother to her); children, Lillian Walker, Emma Jewel Hutching, Bruce Allen Horton; great-niece, Mickey Davidson; grandson, Monroe Gordon; and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Horton.

She leaves to cherish in her loving memory, her daughters, Hattie Gordon (Pecos, Tx); Betty Williams (Joe) El Paso, Tx; son, Willie Anthony Horton (Houston, Tx); daughter-in-law, Jackie Horton (Seminole, Tx); son-in-law, Robert Lee Walker, (Stafford, Tx); Bruce Mussey (Ft. Davis, Tx).  And a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be held from 9 am. to 11 am with following at Funeral Service Saturday May 15, 2021 at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at East Side (Santa Rosa) Cemetery in Pecos, Texas. Mask are to be worn.

Dinner will be served at St. James Baptist Church Fellowship Hall: 324 South Peach Pecos, Texas
