Melba Pearline Lively, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024, in Olton, Texas where she had resided for the last 5 years.
Pearline Lively was born on April 15, 1929, to Truman and Maud Ritchie in Seminole, Oklahoma. They moved to Iraan, Texas when she was in high school. That’s where she met the love of her life Louis Lively while she was working at the Lunch Kit Café. Pearline and Louis eloped 2 months later and were married in Sheffield, Texas December 22, 1946. Their beautiful love story lasted for 62 years.
Pearline and Louis moved to Pecos, Texas in 1959 and became long time residents for over 40 years. After being married for 15 years they adopted a son in Fort Worth, Texas Stewart Lively. Pearline started praying for a brown-eyed girl and 18 months later they got the phone call about a baby girl who just happened to have brown eyes. Dr. Avery and Dr. Powell brought me to their home when I was only 12 hours old. Mom told this story to anyone who would listen to her at the nursing facility how much God had blessed her and answered her prayers. I will always be grateful to them for a wonderful childhood and the life they gave me. We were raised in a Christian home and attended church regularly at Calvary Baptist and later attended West Park Baptist. Mom taught Sunday school for over 50 plus years, she also taught several bible studies. After Louis retired, they moved to Monahans to be closer to Denise and family.
Pearline was a faithful member at Southside Baptist Church in Monahans for many years where she taught Sunday school. She was an amazing prayer warrior. She was the one everyone called to have her to be praying for whatever the need was. Even her granddaughters would call her when they needed their nanny to be praying for them. We all knew she had a direct line to the big man upstairs. That’s one of the things I will miss the most. She even started Sunday morning Bible study at her nursing facility up until a few months ago.
Her two beautiful granddaughters Tamara Ray and Trisha Nelson were her pride and joy. She was blessed with 5 Great Grandchildren Tatum, Taos, Rylan, Sawyer and Brecken. She was a wonderful cook. Everyone loved going to Nanny’s to eat. She would fix whatever we requested along with her homemade pies and cakes for dessert.
She is preceded in death by her husband Louis Lively, son Stewart Lively, parents Truman and Maud Ritchie, sister Gladys Roe, brothers Dale Ritchie, Byron Ritchie and Billy Ritchie.
Pearline is survived by her daughter Denise Clements and husband Richard of Pecos, Texas, Granddaughters Tamara Ray and husband Chad of Southlake, Texas, Trisha Nelson and husband Matthew of Littlefield, Texas, her three sisters Polly Walton of Moore, Oklahoma, Dot Hart of Olton, Texas, and Mona Landrum of Abilene, Texas. Pearline is also survived by her bonus daughters Regina Culberson of Sylacauga, Alabama, Sindy Duncan McLain of Midland, Texas along with Starla Edwards of Weatherford, Texas and a host of many nieces and nephews. Also a dear family to us the Schooler family.
