Oscar H. Fuentes, 61, of Pecos, TX, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 in Odessa, TX after a short battle with cancer.
Oscar Fuentes was born in Pecos to Vivian and Santos Fuentes on September 2, 1961. He attended Pecos schools and then enjoyed a long career in car parts. He served as longtime manager of Big A and later Carquest. He enjoyed great friendships and partnerships with many of the mechanics and car shops in Pecos. Many called on him for his expertise in the field. He also served his community through various commitments, including his time as a coach for Pecos Little League. He was a member of Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church.
Oscar is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Susan and Ector Fuentes. He is also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Brenda Fuentes.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Delma Gonzales, of Pecos. He is also survived by his children: Jonathan Fuentes and wife, Alma Porras, of Odessa, Brian Fuentes and wife, JoMyra Zuniga, of Pecos, Niomi DeAnda and husband, Rudy DeAnda, of Pecos, and Jennifer Fuentes and husband, Rodney Rodriguez, of Pecos; his siblings: Orlando Fuentes and Norma Chavez of Pecos; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brian Fuentes, Jr., Dominic Serrano, Jack Fuentes, Mark Alvarez, Leroy Chavez, and Michael Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be Micah Fuentes, Devan Serrano, Leo Rodriguez, Kevin Fuentes, Jalen Fuentes, and Cole Fuentes.
Visitation will be held at Pecos Funeral Home on Sunday, September 3 from 1:00-5:00 PM and then again on Monday, September 4 beginning at 9:00 AM. Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM at Pecos Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 5 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery.
The family wishes to express its greatest thanks to Reeves Regional Health, Medical Center Hospital, and Home Hospice for the loving care he received during his short bout with cancer. The nurses, in particular, showed such great care and compassion for Oscar and the family.
