Peggy Jo Ellis entered into Eternal rest on July 1, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on August 20, 1942, to Enos Van Ellis and Bessie Mae Ellis of Pecos. She spent almost her whole life in Pecos, graduating from high school here and from college at Sul Ross University. For many years Peggy worked at the Pecos Nursing Home as the activities director there. She was much beloved by her patients, one of whom it was said that he thought she walked on water. She cared for both her mother and father until their deaths.
Peggy is survived by several nieces and nephews Linda Ellis Jones of Tucson, Arizona and Mark Ellis of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Martha Slack Reid of Ripley Mississippi; Quincy Parker, Jr. of Longview, Texas; Sherill Hardin Moczygemba of San Antonio and Glenn Hardin of San Antonio; great nieces and nephews and some great greats.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Bill Ellis (Frances, Betty, and Mary); sisters Martha Slack Holcombe (T.C. and Walter); Anita Parker (Quincy); Mary Sue Leach (Sam); nephew Tommy Slack; niece Becky Parker.
Peggy will have a small funeral/memorial service on Tuesday July 19, 2022 at 10:00 A.M., at Pecos funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Kevin Mitchell of First Baptist Church presiding. Burial will be with her parents in Fairview cemetery.

Remembrances may be given in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Pecos, the Pecos Nursing Home, Heart to Heart Hospice of San Antonio, or any charity of the donor’s choice.
