Petra Chacon Lofton, 62 of Pecos, went to serve the Lord on April 4, 2021 surrounded by family in Odessa, Texas. Petra was born in El Paso, Texas to Francisco B. Chacon and Piedad C. Chacon on February 20, 1959. Petra was a life-long resident of Pecos. She always made sure to give praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as well as Our Virgen de Guadalupe. As a devout Catholic, Petra raised her children with love, and with Christian values.
A certified nurse’s assistant by trade, however, she would tell you that her main job in life was being a loving Mother. Her extended family also received the joy she would bring to all family gatherings. Petra also loved to decorate her home for Autumn and Christmas because she hoped that it would bring joy to her town, as many took family photos there.
Petra is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Piedad and infant daughter, Angelica. Petra is survived by her daughter, Michelle A Acosta (son-in-law David Jr.) of Odessa, Texas. A son, Joseph C. Alvarado (father, Joe V. Alvarado) of San Antonio, Texas. Grandchildren, Jaylen (wife Xochitl), Jerek and Natalie Acosta all of Odessa. Husband, Jim Lofton of Houston, Texas.
Sisters, Faustina Trujillo (husband Tony Sr.), Concepcion Levario (husband Larry) of Pecos and brother, Perfecto Chacon (wife Angie) of Quinlan, Texas.
Pallbearers: Jaylen Acosta, Jerek Acosta, Christian Trujillo, Fidel Herrera, Angel Torres, Luis Ortega, and Tony Trujillo Jr.
Services: Viewing will be held on Thursday April 8, 2021 from 9 am to 6 pm and Rosary to begin at 6 pm at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday April 9, 2021 at 12 pm at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church. A private interment will take place at a future date in Pecos, Texas. Arrangements made by Pecos Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Petra’s honor to Santa Rosa Church in Pecos, TX or MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.
The Alvarado and Acosta families wish to extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Dejka M. Araujo from MD Anderson, MD. Cindy, Maria, and Gregoria all from Star Home Hospice. And also Valerie Trujillo for accompanying our mom on her doctor's appointments
Affectionally known as Peach, her smile and presence are already missed by all who love her. Forever in our hearts, Petra.
