Robert Stephen "Bob" Taylor, 54, of Pecos, formerly of La Junta, Colorado, and Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016.
A Rosary will be held Monday evening, November 21, at 7:30 pm at the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Pecos, Texas.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of his Home-going will be held Tuesday morning, at 10 a.m., also at Santa Rosa. Burial will be held privately at a later. Arrangements are being handled by Pecos Funeral Home.
Bob was born in Bay View, Ohio, to Lauren and Lois (Weisheit) Taylor, January 6, 1962, during the beginning of the space program, which began a lifelong love of all things that fly. Seven years later, he started building models, and he built 3000 models of airplanes, cars, spacecraft, and boats, during his lifetime. He was blessed to love, and be loved by Edward Weisheit, his gentle and kind Grandfather, who helped shape him into the man he would become. When he was 8, his family moved to Colorado, where he went to school. He graduated from Widefield High School in 1980. He enlisted in the Air Force and spent 13 years stationed in La Junta, Colorado. He worked as a Radar Technician in the military, and for Lockheed Martin, and Ahntech. Later in life, he became a locksmith, which challenged his meticulous attention to detail.
On November 30, 1991, he finally married his soulmate, Mary Laetitia "Tish" Hartwick. A year later, he adopted Elizabeth and their family was complete, except for the parade of animals that enriched their lives.
Bob moved to Texas in 2002, and the beautiful grandchildren to whom he was especially devoted, began to arrive. He is survived by 6 grandsons, Christopher, Damian, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Taylor, and Christian. Frequent trips to visit them provided much joy, as they fished, built models, collected coins, and built memories together.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lois Rosalee Weisheit Taylor, and his grandfather, Edward Weisheit.
In addition to his grandsons, Bob is survived by his father, Lauren Ross Taylor, of Widefield, Colorado, his best friend and wife, Mary Laetitia, "Tish," and his adored daughter, Elizabeth Anne Taylor-Pugh, and her husband Delton Pugh, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southwest Transplant Alliance, to assist in their work of organ donation.
