Roxanne Shorter, 59 of Pecos, Texas, passed away on November 25, 2024, surrounded by love and cherished memories.

Born in Pecos on September 15, 1965 to Willie Lee Shorter and L.M. Shorter, Roxanne grew up in a close-knit community that shaped her vibrant spirit. She attended school in Pecos, where she was a proud cheerleader, known for her radiant smile and contagious energy.

Roxanne welcomed her son, Aaron Lee Michael Shorter into her life. After moving to Killeen, Texas she welcomed her daughter Keyetta Mathis. Roxanne's dedication to her family and her community in Killeen left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Missing that small community family life, Roxanne returned to her hometown of Pecos, reconnecting with childhood friends and embracing her passions, such as solving puzzles, attending church and spending quality time with her loved ones.

Roxanne's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She believed deeply in her calling to be a vessel for God, sharing her testimony with anyone willing to listen. Her words and actions inspired many to draw closer to God, leaving a legacy of faith and compassion.

Roxanne is preceded in death by her father, L.M. Shorter, her brother Robert Shorter, and her beloved son, Aaron Lee Michael Shorter.

She is survived by her loving mother, Willie Lee Shorter, her devoted daughter, Keyetta Mathis of Killeen, Texas; her sister Renee Pemberton (Selwyn) of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; her brother Devin Shorter (Veronica) of Odessa, Texas. She also leaves behind her cherished nephews Baushlyon Richardson of Hobbs, New Mexico, Tay Dunn of Austin, Texas and Jaxon Shorter of Dallas, Texas; her adored nieces, Adiama Richardson of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Jazmyn Diaz (Josiah) of Odessa, Texas, and Jordyn Shorter of Odessa, Texas.

Roxanne's life was further enriched by her great nieces and great nephew, as well as a host of dear friends who loved her deeply. Her warmth, wisdom, and faith will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00pm at Pecos Funeral Home with Rev. Henderson officiating.
