Terri Morse was born in Midland, Texas on November 14, 1956. She grew up in Kermit, where she gained her love of swimming early on at the local pool, swimming from sunup to sundown. From the age of 7, she knew that she wanted to be a swim coach
She graduated from Bellaire High School in Houston where she swam on the State Championship Swim Team and won the gold medal for Breastroke. She attended Stephen F. Austin University, swimming for their team and later coached swimming at SFA.
She moved to Pecos in 1985, coaching the renowned PHS Swim Team for 34 years. Under her leadership, the team won 41 District Championships, 17 Regional Championships, 6 Regional Runners-up, 6 4A State Championships and 3 UIL State top 5. Coach Morse received the Theron Pickle Outstanding State Swim Coach Award in 2006. In 2011, she was awarded the NFHS State Coach of the Year Award and the National Sectional Swim Coach of the Year Award.
She loved every minute of her coaching career. She often said, " I got to live my dream." Terri lived a life of service, teaching, coaching and cheering generations of swimmers.
She is survived by her brother, Mike of Houston her dear friend and assistant coach Joan Capshaw, as well as hundreds of swimmers whom she loved as family, her beloved spaniel, Ellie and rescued cats - Smokey, Patches and Banana.
Services will be Saturday, August 17, at 10:00 am at the First Methodist at 423 S. Elm presided over by the Reverend Cindy Duke. Burial will follow at Mt. Evergreen cemetery.
Immediately afterward, her family, friends and teams are invited to gather for lunch at The Reeves County Civic Center for remembrances and a traditional pasta party
